Goodness mE...
I finally have time to update my blog!! I miss everybody... I miss my best friends, my TP mates, my working khakis, my family, my SIP mates, even!!! I'm on the night shift for the entire week from 5pm to 1 am that i've got no chance to see my babiesssss!! How are you guys????? Good i hope...! Muacks to everybody... =)
Update you guys on my life... Things been going quite well for me i would say... I'm trying to think on the brighter side of my life working at Long Bar and yes, I'm slowly enjoying my life there after i get the hang of it..! Me love life is going quite smoothly... Still taking things slow... But i like the pace now... Slowly savouring the goodness of it... *GigglEs* Well, I have to go prepare now...!!
And to Sharon, please please don't be upset alright... Absence makes the heart grow fonder, doesn't it? Things will turn out fine eventually!! =) Love Ya.

Oh Yea, It's My Off Day!
I just got up. And i realised that i have actually wasted more den half of my off day!!!!!!!!! Argghs. Stupid me.. i could have wake up early in the morning to swim and lose some weight... But Ah weLl.. ferget it. Uh-huh... Last night was my first day working at Long Bar on a night shift. Time passed so much faster den it is in the day... So i'll conclude that i prefer the night shift!!! But i haven't seen the crowds on Fridays n Saturdays, so i still do have my reservations. Haha...
Guess WAD!!! my shift started at 5 yesterdae and his shift ended at 4. At 4.15pm while i was on the train, he called.
Boy : Hello? Is this Weiling?
Girl: Yah. Who's this on the line?
(Train enters the tunnel)
Boy : This is *** here...
Girl: Who..?
Boy : ***! (IN CAPS)
Girl: Oh ya ya.. Why?
Boy : Where are you now?
Girl: On the train?
Boy : Are you reaching soon?
Girl: Nope.. the train just reached Kembangan.
Boy : Oh... ferget den...
Girl: Why?
Boy : Nah.. i'm off from work and i thought you're gonna reach soon and maybe we could meet up for a drink before you go to work.
Girl: Oh...
Boy : Yah... But that's alright.. i'll see ya tomorrow then... Bye.
Girl: Ok Bye...
That's it. I cursed the moment i hung up. Why didn't i suggest meeting up tomorrow? WHY WHY WHY. Ah Shit. nvm. So the conversation kept running through my head until i reached CityHall. I alighted. And met Grace at Raffles City. I told her what happened and she said she just saw him at the Staff entrance and hurried me to go to the hotel. But i told her he might be gone already la... But i don't know why. My legs increased their pace. But i didn't see him. Until i was nearing the staff entrance. I saw him through the blind mirror and we were like shocked to see each other. We were like stammering through our conversation... LOls.
Oh Dear. i feel like a small little girl.

Good n Bad
I dread going to work now... and i'm lazy to type it to tell u guys why... but i'll tell u guys something good! Heheh
I went drinking last night with the kitchen ppl and it was crazeeeee... When the bunch of us found a place to sit, *** and i were pushed to sit together.. and i was feeling so awkward, i didn't talk much until he striked a conversation with me... Only then did we start talking... But as we were talking the rest were like joining in to listen to our conversation? And when i answered his qns, they made silly comments and sounds? *ShaKes heAd* but anyway we continued talking and they pretended to be eavesdropping and the moment *** n i stopped talking, they acted as though they didn't do anything? ahAha... Never MinDd... So yea... n since we are the only two who stay in the east side, we shared a cab home... =)
Sooo i took the initiative to see if he wants to go for dinner tonight... But i was shy to enter the cold kitchen so i asked him thru andy... So yea, he called me after dat n we met up n ate at MacDonald's... Talked quite alot n yea, more or less begin to understand each other at a deeper level... so basically that's it... We started off as acquaintances n now we're frens...! So it's good lah! At least i now know he's actually pretty noisy. haha.

First Day at Work...
SIGH... I don't wanna talk about it... The people there sucks. N i banged my head against the spiral staircase today. Ouch. BladdY Shit. Sigh. i've got so many things to do...! Floor plans, studying the menus... Arghs...! I guess i'll just have to tolerate for 3 months...? 3 months will pass with a blink of an eye... I'm SURE... Grr.. But well... Nice things happened today anyway... :D
I was on my way to report at the Long Bar when i saw him... Gosh... We said hello and I was dumb-strucked. AHAHHAHA... N i had lunch with Chen Chin. We were both complaining about our jobs and stuffs like that.. ehehhe. n when i left the cafe n headed for the toilet, I saw him again. This time we only smiled. But i was sure happy eh~!!
Hmmm... What happened next...? i received a msg from him...! gosh. AhaHa... Den we msged a little bit here n there.. Ahaha.. Ahyah don't Say le. What ever it is... it's definitely something good. =)

LAst dAy of OrieNtAtiOn
gee.. Finally it's over... YaY...! Can't wait to start work... Well, I'll be reporting to Long Bar @ 10am in the morning the next day... Well.. Looking all forward to it. I think Alam (the ManageR) put me in the morning shift because it's not as busy as it is in the night and i would be given more chance to learn... =) Smart and wise Choice eh..? Cos i'm not quite ready to take up the challenge of working in the busiest and highest earning revenue F&B outlet of RH... Keke...
Well anyway, I AM SOOOOOOO relieved that the orientation's over... Yes... The HR Manager, F&B director came in and had a talk with us... John then later gave us a presentation on staff benefits which obviously don't apply to trainees... but HE DIDN'T TELL THE TRAINESS WHAT WE'RE ENTITLED TO AND WHAT WE'RE NOT ENTITLED TO... I mean we are pretty much confused and stuff like that but i presumed he's too irritated by my questions anyway. Ahh well. It's Ok. Towards the end of our orientation, we were splitted into groups to come up with a skid that illustrates the Raffles Style of Service. It was pretty enjoyable and Haizul, the Tiffin Room guy is really funny with his "lion" role... Ahahha... His group really ended the orientation on a happy note! CheeRS...!! =D
Another exciting day...
Hmmm.. we had a long lunch today and it was Appreciation Lunch where the top mgt staff cooked for us to eat!! But that's not the whole point. =) Me n my bunch of friends were dining at the cafeteria and i was pretty much reluctant to leave well, because i wanted to see someone... eheHhe... we waited till like 1.40pm till we gave up, cos we had to get back to Lady Sophia Suite at 1.50pm... So we left, and on our way out, I saw him... Gosh, he smiled at me and his smile was like sooo... shy and how should i put it... unnatural? whatever...! SO i said "hi" n nana went "hello" den everyone started giggling. U girls are...!!! Can't take it... Haha... Den when we finish our orientation i took the lift together with my mates and saw some chefs. I saw VJ (the chef from cold kitchen) and he was like "EH EH EH!! W** L***!! (points at me)" Gosh, so malu lo... But anyway when he saw me he gave me a sort of cheeky smile and i was like "hello" den i walked super fast... Den nana n Co. went laughing away AGAIN... Haiyoh. Make me even paiseh-er... So what happened was i saw Andy at the basement and he gave me a piece of good news that well... I think i wouldn't say here la~ Lest some ppl sees it and goes around spreading... HAHAHAH~!

I Miss Working @ Banquet!!
Gosh, it's only 2 days and i can't believe i nearly cried when i see my banquet khakis today...! Missed the days where we would buy Macdonald's and eat together, the days where we would work equally hard to get things done, the days where we would "eat snake" together, the days where we would laugh and enjoy ourselves while we work...!!!! hrrms... Today was the 2nd day of our orientation. Like yesterday, it was equally boring. Hah. maybe i'm still suffering from tuesday blues eh~! LOls. well anyway, Mr Advani the Hotel Manager came in to give us a talk and he was such a perfect speaker and have such mesmerising eyes dat made Grace swoon over him... HAHAHAHHAHA... Today's Agenda...
* Played Squirrel n hunter...
* Had Mr Advani to talk to us
* Discussed about the mission statement, core values and service standards of the Hotel
* Mr Leslie Danker, the old bird at Raffles hotel filled us up on the history of Raffles... =)
* Visited one of the Grand Suite: Cathay Suite which costs approx. 3000 bucks +++ Per night...
* The swimming pool, gym, Amrita Spa... eTc.
And why was i embarassed?
I was having my lunch at Sarkies' Cafe when this cute guy i admired came in to have his lunch too. He was sitting in the table in front of me and i could see him (he could see me too la). But what happen was the moment i saw him i was like "my gawd.. what m i suppose to do now..." So i only dared to take a short glance at him lest he spot me looking at him. n dEn Nana said he saw me n somehow quite paiseh n continued eating and his fren who was eating as well turned and look at me. Ah Well... Guessed the entire cold kitchen n banquet kitchen know liao la. Cos when i saw my bqt kitchen frens, William was like making fun of me... My back was facing the cute guy so i din get to see his reaction or wad so eva la... William was like consistently asking the cute guy to turn over... Bah~~!~! How embarassing~! Den Chef Kidd and Co. Laughed. Wah LAos. Malu Loh`~~``~`~... really three lines ran down the side of my head. ^_^` WILLIAM u better remember what you've done.. Make me so malu!! However if something good comes out of it, I'll love ya for it! HAha. Msged Chef Kidd to tell her how embarrasing it was... and how difficult it is going to be for me to say hello to him next time, She said...

1st Day of Orientation @ RAFFLES
Many words to describe. Dry. Boring. Lame. Sians. Sigh. Basically what happened today was the HR Officer started the day's joke by asking us to "watch out! got coconuts! (points at the trees)" Now, how funny can that be? But anyway, i'll just take it that i'm having my monday blues and also i oni had like 3 hours of sleep? Sigh-O... Well well... lemme what we did...
*A brief introduction of ourselves
*Had an ice breaking game of 5cents 10 cents
*Had several speakers from the management of different depts to give us an overview of the organisational chart of the departments within the hotel... Ranging from Jasbeer (Telephone Dept) to Mahadi (Security Dept).
*Coffee breaks which included sandwiches, fruits, muffins, coffee and tea.
*Even the GM Mr. Javier Rosenberg came in to give a small speech.
EVerything ended at about 5. Whoa. Haha. Went to Raffles City to buy 2 books at MPH, some notebooks, bookmarks at Precious Thots. Saw a bikini at bugis, bought it. =) n went home on bus number 12. sLept thru the journey till i hit myself on window twice. And guess wad? two gays who were sitting behind me were laughing @ me. Kaos. But i cudn't care much anyway, i was too tired. AHAHAha.
Gotta wake up at 7 am in the morNing Tml~!!~~! Sigh-O. 2nd day of Orientation.

Whoa. Finally i'm back blogging... Finally i have an off day... Finally i had time to dine with my mum... Finally this and finally that...! Finally SIP is here...
Went out with my mum to bugis today. Tried i-dim sum~ The restaurant which offers dim-sum on a conveyor belt. =) Well... Isn't really something, 'cept that u know, a new concept. Tsk tSK... Bascially i spent 200 today, bought nothing for myself, only spent 25 bucks for food n drink. Basket. Oh well~ i'm happy still! HAha.

Learning to *learn*
I went down for my uniform fitting today and discussed where i'll be attached to during my 6 months at raffles hotel... Well, i'll be in Doc Cheng's for 3 months, LongBar for 2 and Banquet for 1... Pretty glad, because i discussed it over with the asst f n b director... I'm surprised he recognised me!! Haha, i've seen him ard in the hotel quite frequently and he always smiles but i never think he'd actually remember a small l'il fry like me eh... =P
Well, although i've been working at the hotel for one and a half years, i wanted to come back here for my internship because one, i feel a sense of belonging to the place and two, there's just so much for me to learn about this grand historic hotel. And during the talk i had with Andre (pronounced "Orn-Drey"), the asst f n b director, he was telling me about being enthusiastic and having a hunger for knowledge and stuffs... Well, i guess i'm one person who falls into this category, somewhat. Why do i say that?
Basically, even though I've been there for like one and a half years, i always feel that there's always something new for me to learn everyday as i work... The HR officer, John, claimed that banquet has no "learning curve", and that's way he didn't want to put me there initially, but i beg to differ. Hoteliers often say that banquet is a good training ground, and i personally feel the same way too. Because part-timers working in banquet learn the different types of service from buffets to fine-dining functions, and the exposure for us to experience different forms of service is there. He also said that i've been in banquet "for quite some time", yea i agree, in fact i TOTALLY agree. But hey, i'll be given a chance to learn more on the operations side of banquet, from running functions to learning inventory, etc. instead of the normal service sequence and function set up which i've been doing. So why not? Anyway, i don't really like him. He's ********. I don't know what to describe him. Well, luckily Andre was there.. So i had the chance to explain why i wanted to be back in banquet.
Back to the topic. Going back to Raffles for my internship is something that i'm really looking forward to. Because i do really want to learn something out of what a part-timer does over there, and going there as a trainee would certainly give me more exposure. I hate learning from books, I'd learn better when i ask and people teach and show me, that's what i realised about myself...
Most people do not understand what is meant by "learning". Well, technically, there are different ways of learning. Some prefer learning thru books, some thru experiences, some thru people's advices, etc. But what's most important is to have enthusiasm and initiative. Only when you take an interest in what you wanna know will u learn. Only when you question and probe and look for an answer do you learn.
Take me for an example. My interest, i can say, is in banquet. Because with all the hands-on experience and what the captains and managers teach me, i feel myself learning everyday. And being in a department which is constantly under great pressure, i learn to take the initiative to handle and solve minor problems which i feel i can handle myself. But of course, there are some stuffs you don't learn at banquet as well, like hostessing, taking a la carte orders, manning bar, even the micros system. That's where going to other outlets would help us in to being an all-rounder.
It is always wiser to be a jack of all trades now... Cos nobody can guarantee your rice-bowl. Not even yourself. Only your experience and knowledge can. *Yawns* So how do you want to learn?

My computer was infected with some bladdy virus dun ask me wad i don't know and I'm starting to lose all interest in blogging. Cos i can't do it ALL the time. Tsk tsk. Well.. Luckily my computer is up n werkin again!! YaYz..!U all could check wif Laine man, how bladdy pissed off i was when messenger couldn't work... It was because of the virus which infected a component n again, i dunno what or which component it was. Wadeva it is. my computer is working again... HeEh!
Oh YeA PeePs. The Great Singapore sAle iS baccccckkk with lotsa goods at LOW prices!! Me spent quite a few hundred within a week. There goes my hard-earned pay~~~ Boo HOo hOo! but it brightens up my day with my newly-owned assets. HAha!! Bought some stuffs from M)phosis, Harley Davidson, BAggIES! WalLEtieS! SHoEZieS! CloThieSs! AcCEsSorIes!! Wad More can a girl like me buy? I wudn't spend my money on electronic gadgets... or or some household appliances right... Eh hE He.. Oh Yaa... I wanted to get a book but it's sold out... Bah~ My brother bought this graphic novel book called "Blankets" TMd. So PricEy n He bought it @ KinokUniya with a 20% off... But still.. It costs like 40 odd dollars. WhOa.
I've been real busy working... Slogging my life during these holidays... To get myself ready for some 6 days a week werkin life. LOl.. I'm going to miss alot of my frensSs... SiGh-O!
